Custom Sequential Invoice Numbers

PDF Invoices

From version 2.1, PDF Invoices can print sequential numbers such as INV-0001 or INV-2026-0001. The Paid Memberships Pro order code stays the same unless you choose to replace it in the template.

Enable sequential numbers

1. Go to Settings → PMPro PDF Invoices → Settings.
2. Find Sequential Invoice Numbers.
3. Check Use sequential invoice numbers instead of random order codes.
4. Save settings.
5. Add {{sequential_invoice_number}} to the PDF template if it is not already there.

Settings

Prefix	Text before the number	INV- → INV-0001
Suffix	Optional text after the number	-UK → INV-0001-UK
Number padding	Digit width	4 → 0001
Include year	Adds the current year	INV-2026-0001
Year placement	After prefix or before suffix	INV-2026-0001 or INV-0001-2026
Next invoice number	Value used for the next new invoice	Change only if you need to skip ahead
Replace order code	Makes {{invoice_code}} print the sequential number	Off by default

The Settings tab shows a live preview of the next number.

Placeholders

Placeholder	Output
{{sequential_invoice_number}}	Always the sequential value when the feature is enabled.
{{invoice_code}}	PMPro order code, unless “Replace order code” is on.

Existing PDFs

Turning this on does not rewrite PDFs already stored. Generate Missing or Regenerate All on the Tools tab after you are happy with the sample.
