Troubleshooting: License Shows Expired or Register Your Copy

The WordPress admin notice “Register your copy of PMPro PDF Invoices” (or a license screen that says expired) does not mean the plugin has stopped generating PDFs. It means this site is not currently verified for automatic updates and priority support.

What the notice means

A valid license key lets this WordPress site pull updates from yoohooplugins.com. Invoices still generate without a key. The nag appears when the key is missing, expired, cached as invalid, or activated on a different URL.

Fix it

  1. Download the latest zip from File downloads. Do not rely only on the WordPress Updates screen if the key is already failing.
  2. Replace the plugin folder with that zip (or upload it under Plugins → Add New → Upload).
  3. Confirm the zip you installed is the version shown on File downloads. A download labelled 2.1 that still contains 2.0 inside will keep old license behaviour.
  4. Go to Settings → PMPro PDF Invoices → License (or the License tab on the PDF Invoices screen).
  5. Paste the key from License keys and save. Saving clears the local 7-day license cache and contacts the license server again.
  6. Reload the License tab. You want status Active and a future expiry date (or lifetime).

License status is cached on the site for 7 days. Re-saving the key forces a fresh check. If you renewed today and WordPress still says expired, save the key again rather than waiting a week.

If the account shows active but WordPress does not

  • Confirm you pasted the PDF Invoices key, not a key for a different product.
  • If this is a new live URL, deactivate the key on the old / staging site first. A 1 Site license only holds one activation. See staging and multisite licenses.
  • On WordPress multisite, activate from a Super Admin account.
  • If File downloads lists a newer version than the plugin header inside the zip, tell support — that is a packaging problem, not a wrong key.

An outdated plugin can keep showing the register notice after a successful renewal.

Fix: Install the zip from File downloads, then save the key on the License tab.

Treating the notice as a broken invoice generator

The nag is about updates and support, not PDF output.
